Cola Bar [Mar. 14th, 2006|06:55 pm]
CANDY IS AWESOME

So the McCowan's Cola Bar has that weird candy cola taste to it. Now I realise that cola is pretty much liquid candy, but cola flavoured candy does not taste like cola. I personally quite like the fake cola flavour (which is why I was willing to drop 50¢ on the bar). It starts off being pretty hard and brittle, and after a bit of chewing it ends up with a toffee like consistency that sticks to your teeth like nobody's business. The wrapper claims that it contains "Lots of Fizz", this folks, is a lie. But when it comes down to it, I don't think the lack of fizz detracted from the overall confectionery experience.

Also, I enjoyed Coola the Dog on the back of the wrapper.

Great find!

Where did you buy this? England? I just added it to my list of cola flavored candies.

Re: Great find!

also, in looking at your list i notice a lot of root-beer flavoured candies. are you using "cola" as a general term for pop/soda, or at least for BROWN pop/soda? i would give you Dr Pepper (according to Wikipedia, the flavour comes from a swamp-water-style mixture of the flavours available at the time when it was invented) but it's always seemed more like a flavoured cola to me.

root beer, on the other hand, has litle do do with cola other than colour!

Re: Great find!

Some people use the term "cola" to indicate any carbonated soda. That is how I used the term "cola". I focused mainly on the brown ones. :)

Re: Great find!

i know there have been various studies connecting the preferred generic word for carbonated sweetened drink (cola/pop/soda/coke) to geography. do most people where you're from call it all 'cola'?

Re: Great find!

you should also add the gummy coke bottles that are half red and half brown. those are way better than the half white/clear half brown bottles.
